Where Can I Buy A Laptop For Under $600 That Has Nvidia/ati Graphics (not Intel!)?

There’s a bunch of great laptop deals on the net right now but almost 95% them all have the Intel 4500 integrated gpu which has gotten very poor reviews. I’m on a short timeline for xmas and have $500-600 to play with to get a laptop that is capable of playing sims3 (and other modern games). Can someone recommend deals for laptops that have capable graphics capabilities. Thx.

Thru this site, I learned that a laptop rather than a net book was better for me to travel. I am now looking at a Dell or a Toshiba. I’m trying to decide which processor to select that will last me about 5 years w/o trouble, Intel or AMD Turion. Also, I have a Dell desktop, and I’ve had trouble with the monitor. I’m wondering if I should try a Toshiba as I’m reading troublesome reviews about Dell. Any advice I receive would be very much appreciated! Maggie J, retired secretary

‘m thinking about getting a Compaq CQ60-211DX laptop tomorrow from best buy. It has a great price and it got mostly positive reviews, but the only thing holding me back is the fact that it comes with a intel celeron processor. How bad is intel celeron on new laptops and how slow will my computer be with it? If I get it I will only do basic stuff like install Avast, web surf, iTunes, and use microsoft word. Well i was going to do the 14 day free trial of EVE online. But the only thing is that do you think that my computer can take the game’s recommended requirements?
This is what my computer has:
3GB of RAM
Two intel 2 Duo processors, both at 2.00ghz
I have no clue on what the chip set is but it is an Intel Family Chip set Graphics card.

i recently bought a HP laptop with an AMD Athlon X2 dual core procesor. now i read review of that particular model and people are reporting that it gets really hot. I have also heard that AMD processors get really hot compared to intel ones. i plan on keeping this laptop on for long periods of time when at university. so should i exchange it for this other HP model (which costs $200 more) that has a intel core 2 duo processor (which i have heard runs cooler). i dun plan on using hardcore applications or running lots of games.. just keeping it on for long times.. so will the AMD do or should i go for the intel one. also the intel one has lightscribe and a bigger hard drive. but the amd one has a fingerprint reader.. so i dunno what exactly to do..
just advice me on the processor part .. depending on my needs/usage. include any other info that you may have or have heard about AMD processors and if they do tend to heat up

Ok, i just bought the Toshiba Satellite because the screen is huge and the unit is clean and attractive. I spent $1300 on it, so I figured the graphics card in it was good. Well, half life 2 barely runs, and roller coaster tycoon wont render properly. On Intel’s website it says the 945GM Express is upgradeable with a new video card (not sure how), but i don’t know if a new card will fit in my unit, and what cards are compatible? I have the money and I want a good one. Nvidia?

I have never heard of a 1.8 Mac Intel Notebook Pro. Those do not exist. Are you trying to sound smarter than you really are or something? Do you mean the MacBook Pro? (That’s it’s name). In that case, use VMware’s Fusion app.

Both these laptops cost the same. They have the same size screen. I will be playing some older video games like Morrowind occasionally, but mostly for internet surfing, playing some dvds, Itunes/mp3’s, no multitasking.

I cannot find any reviews of the Compaq Presarios laptop as it’s only been out for a few weeks. I know that the dual core Intel is a faster chip than the amd turion, but one laptop has the seperate video card compared to integrated. Don’t know if this balances out the speed of these laptops or not.
