I have a Sony PCG-505-G that can’t support newest Windows OS. I know that some linux OS’ are not as cumbersome, and are more stable. I want to use it as a sort of netbook, with basic productivity apps and virus/internet security protection. I purchased the notebook around 1999 or early this decade, and I’ve upgraded to the motherboard’s maximum hardware allowance, which is not much under current standards. Here are the primary specs:
- Sony Vaio PCG-505G
- 2GB harddrive (yes, only 2!)
- 128 MB ram
- Windows 98.
Thanks for your help!

damn thats old. My new PC i just built has core i7 3 tb of hd space and 12 gb ram. I remember those days of laptops like your though. lol. Try windows 2000, it should run on your laptop. But if you wanted too you can get a hard drive and some ram really really cheap off ebay and possibly a processor thats compatible with the socket. I even got a 20gb hd that would work for that thing in my desk thats been sitting in there for 4 years. lol
