It has different names such as jackysmith or linksys and etc and all of them asks for a passphrase or passcode . Do i need a router ? what do i need plz help . the labtop has internal modem installed inside already too . thanks .

Ah, the paraphrase or code is a security measure on most wireless signals to make it so people cant just use anyone elses internet. You need to purchase your own internet and a wireless router so that you can have your own wireless internet. (it is illegal to access another wireless internet without their consent so don’t do it)

first mention the operating system in your laptop…
if you are using vista then no need to do anything just on the wireless (switch on the laptop) and system auto matically search and display the available wireless connection ….. then select and go and enjoy…
