I’ve been looking at cheap laptops for gaming: found one that sounds alright, but I’m not very good at technical terms and everything so i was wondering if anyone could help. The one i’m looking at is for $380-cheap, I know, but according to reviews it seems pretty good. If anyone reading this may be able to help, please do!

Looking at it, It isn’t very good for very modern games, but searching online i have found that the graphics card on that laptop can run a few games like CS:S, The orange box, Hitman series, Halo CE, Mafia, Morrowind, Battlefield 2, GTA: vice city & san andreas and Far Cry.
If you want a very powerful gaming computer, get an alienware computer, but they won’t be cheap.
FYI: Ram isn’t everything – hell if its a 32bit operating system (which it will come with) it can only use 3gb of the ram.
If you can get a laptop with an external graphics card, then do so, because to play games properly you will need one.
EDIT: Jake, Otherwise yea its a fine laptop – the game should run if its not too modern or if you turn the graphics right down – go for it, and use XP and not vista to help with the speed.

No, unless you get a video card, most new games won’t play well. It should work ok, the processer is a little outdated, it’s a single core, but it’s a fast one. So either fork over a little cash (100 dollars will get you a decent video card, which should play most games fine) or don’t get it for gaming. I just tried personalizing it, and added a video card for 100 dollars
and added a 6 cell for 35 more (needed with a video card). More RAM would be helpful, but not really as necessary as a video card.

Anything with less than 4 GB of RAM is crap for gaming. That cheap piece of junk has half that. If you’re going to do PC gaming… save yourself a lot of headaches and just buy a decent gaming computer. Otherwise, you’ll be spending twice as much trying to update the stupid thing.
Also… laptops in general are kind of underpowered for gaming. You can make it work if you’re willing to pay (which you don’t seem to be willing to do), but it’s generally cheaper to go with a desktop.

Ok for starters….
NEVER NEVER NEVER buy a dell.
I build computers to pay my way through Uni and every time I see a dell I feel sorry for the poor bugger who bought it.
And anyway it’s got no chance of playing games.
Laptops that can play games cost a fortune.
It looks good but the real cruncher for gaming is the Graphics card. And all its got is onboard graphics.
Unfortunmately if you want to play games, and im assuming you mean modern ones Crysis etc not WoW then your look at around £800+ although that’s here in UK so prices may be different over there.

Not at all. The graphics card is pretty bad; Definitely not for gaming. You’ll need to get something better if you plan on playing a game made after the year 2000.
Btw: Don’t listen to raina_vissora. You don’t need a high amount of ram for gaming. 2-3 gbs is completely fine.

It is pretty good for gaming. It has a lot of disk space to save and store game data and it has lots of ram to run the game. Also it has a good processor to make sure it doesn’t slow down your system. The only thing you may wanna fix is the video card… it sucks! Hope this helps!
