I am a computer whiz and I think there is no difference between a laptop and a notebook. My friend claims that a notebook has a 24 hr battery and it has a wireless netowork detector without the card. I have a laptop which does the same but it lasts only 3 hours. I think my friend is on the verge of losing this bet. I don’t want any dumb people answering this question.

Based on those definitions, he’s wrong. For popular usage, “laptop” and “notebook” are one and the same.
    1) Very few laptop/notebook batteries last for 24 hours under normal use.
    2) Every wireless laptop/notebook has a card, it just depends on if it’s internal or external. Point being, it’s still a wireless “card”.

ur friend’s a dumb noob, tell him no laptops last for 24hrs…urs is right, mine lasts nearly 4hrs in powersave option. ur friend probably carries spare battries or a charger around wit him….or he keeps it on standby which dosent count as useage time.

Your friend is wrong. “Laptop” and “notebook” are functionally synonyms. The word notebook was originally supposed to refer to a laptop that’s small and light enough to carry around in the same manner that you would a notebook (non computer notebook), but that distinction quickly went out the window. If I’m an OEM and my product is 6 pounds and yours is 5 and you call yours a “notebook”, I’m going to call mine one too. And name one portable computer that has a 24 hour battery. The network transmitter itself would use up too much electricity to run for a full day straight. Your friend is also dumb.

Actually, although very similar, a notebook was meant as a replacement for a desktop. They tend to be heavier than laptops. That being said, laptops were lighter and therefore more portable. Now-a-days though as previously mentioned, they are basically synonymous with each other.
I have yet to see a laptop or notebook battery that lasts for 24 hours. It would be great if one actually existed!!!
