I always empty the trash and stuff off my Mac if I don’t need it anymore. But if I go to Finder and click stuff like all images, all the images I’ve put in the trash are still there!
I really hate taking up memory on my Macbook, so how can I get rid of the stuff I don’t need PERMANENTLY?
please help!

Show hidden files using a terminal command and delete the “.DS_Store” or any other “.” file that is related to the files you want to get rid of. The other option is to reformat the drive and reinstall the OS.
Software like Onyx, Tinker Tool, and Main Menu might also help.
Here is the Terminal Command:
defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES
To make the command take effect, you need to restart the Finder. One way to do this is to hold down the Option key, then click and hold on the Finder icon in the Dock. When the contextual menu appears, select Relaunch and the Finder will restart.
Change YES to NO to hide hidden files.

Download the free app Onyx, which you can find on multiple “best free Mac apps” sites. It deletes lots of stuff that is NOT deleted from normal empty trash bin actions. (A lot of stuff is saved in multiple locations, especially caches, that you probably won’t know about unless you really look for them. Onyx finds this stuff and gets rid of it).

well formatting is good, but even that wont solve the answer till you save more data over the old files.
if u have to make it secure, take out the hard drive and destroy it, that is the best way.
