Going to get a new macbook. The only complaint I had with the standard white macbook was that the speakers were tiny, the sound quality was tinny and even at top volume it was almost inaudible.
Are the speakers on the new aluminum one any better?

You are never going to get great sound from laptop speakers.
That being said it sounds like you had bad speakers in the one you had, or something was messed up in your software.
Unless the speakers are listed as something special, all laptop speakers are pretty much created equal, tiny things that are not meant to give great sound quality.
